Color Day is this upcoming Tuesday, May 21st. The front horse shoe will be blocked off for Seniors only. If you typically drop off your students at the front door, please drop them off next to the Field House or out back by the bus canopy; or you can stop and let them walk up! The Color Day parade will begin at 10:00 AM, after the Alma Mater and Senior Song. Seniors may begin lining up in the horseshoe starting at 8:30 that morning. The theme for the parade is "Decades," decorating your float for your favorite decade. Senior colors are royal blue, emerald green, and silver. There will be awards handed out for showing your school spirit, following the theme, and displaying your colors. As a reminder, no water guns or water balloons are permitted. After the parade, we will meet in the Stadium for the "Grill n Chill" and Senior Games. There will be field day games, a rock wall, smash car, and other activities. We will have hot dogs/chips. Color Day is open to all Seniors. You did NOT have to purchase a Color Day shirt to participate. No underclassman should be in the parade, this is for graduating Seniors only. We hope to see all Seniors there Tuesday morning!

Good evening, this is Parkersburg High School with some important reminders for Senior Week: • Tomorrow is the Senior’s last required school day. All make up work, textbooks, and technology should be turned in. If you have a locker, please clean out your locker, and place your lock back on your locker, locked up with the door open. Don’t forget to pay your Senior fees of $30 in the finance office if you haven’t done so already. • The only reason a Senior should be in the building on May 20th is for final work completion. For the remainder of that week, you are only to be in the building for Graduation Practices, or paying debts. • If you haven’t done so already, please take your cap and gown out of the bag and hang it up. Do not iron your gown. We recommend steaming it only. You may decorate your cap, but anything on the cap must follow school guidelines and expectations for what you are allowed to wear. Anything placed on the cap can not be any taller that 1 inch and it must be secure. The color of your attire under your gown is up to you. We recommend that students wear slacks or a dress and do not wear high heals. • Senior Color Day will be Tuesday the 21st starting at 10:00am. You may line up in the horse shoe starting at 8:30AM. No one will be allowed to park in the horseshoe that day except for Seniors. Only licensed vehicles that can be driven on the road are permitted in the parade; this includes any trailer that is pulled. • Color Day is for Seniors only; no other students are permitted to participate. • We will start Color Day off by gathering at the flagpole at 10:00 o'clock for the Senior song and the raising of the Senior flag. • The parade will go down Washington Ave. around the Park and back. • The Senior Chill N’ Grill will begin after the parade is over. Once you leave you may not return. • All vehicles will be checked upon entering the horseshoe; no water balloons or water guns are allowed. Unnecessary items will be confiscated. • The Chill N’ Grill will last no longer than three o’clock; Color Day and the Chill N’ Grill are not required to attend, but are highly suggested due to the long standing tradition. • The first day of graduation practice is Wednesday, May 22nd at 8:30 am in the Field House. That will continue on Thursday and Friday at the same time. Thursday is also our Awards Day (TAP Day). All seniors will be required to stay for the duration of the ceremony in their cap and gown. • If you are planning on walking at graduation, practice is required. Please do not be late! • On the first day of practice you will sit up in the Fieldhouse bleachers until we put you in order. • We will be done with practice on both Wednesday and Friday by no later than 11:am. Thursday will last until about 12:30. • Graduation practice takes as long as you cooperate; if you show up on time and you listen, you will get out sooner. • Graduation will be at 7:00 on Friday, May 24th. Seniors will be required to report to the auditorium at 5:55 dressed and ready to go that day. • There will be many things handed out at graduation practice this upcoming week. Parents please make sure you ask to see those items. • We will do everything we can to have graduation outside even if it means dealing with a little bit of rain. • There will not be a ticket requirement if graduation stays outside. • If graduation is inside, there will be a minimum of five tickets given to each graduate. It will also be televised on our Facebook and CAS cable whether it's inside or out for those unable to attend. • I know there are many other questions you probably have and many of those questions will be answered at graduation practice. Please ask your graduate questions daily, but all of the important information I've just given you is what's vital to start off with this week. Most importantly, Seniors please remember that even though your last day is Friday, you are still technically a student of Parkersburg High School until you graduate on the 24th. There can be no disruption of our school at anytime so please make sure you understand that when it comes to planning your days. Any disruption or poor behavior that is caused can result in failure to participate in Color Day, suspension, and/or failure to walk at graduation. • For those student athletes still participating in sports after graduation on the 24th, you're still considered a student and must abide by the student code of conduct until your sport is concluded. We look forward to a great graduation week from Color Day to practice to Graduation. If you have any questions you can give us a call at 304-420-9595

We collected Senior iPads today. If you didn't bring your iPad to school, please bring the charging cord and block with the iPad tomorrow. iPads must have enough charge on them for us to verify who is signed in to the iPad. Once they are turned in, you will not be able to come back and ask to have it to access information for school. If you need access to saved school work, you can log in to Schoology on a library computer and submit it from there if needed. If you have any further questions, please call 304-420-9595.
