As we begin our week a few reminders……
PRE-K Registration starts tomorrow at 8:00 am in Wood County. Our registration line will be through the right main entrance doors closest to the main office.
Monday morning at 8:30 am is our Second Nine Weeks Awards Assembly. Those wishing to attend will sign in through the left main entrance doors after you’ve provided proof of ID.
Our students will enjoy a Second Nine Weeks Reward activity Monday afternoon (closed to visitors).
The Boys Basketball team has an away game Monday night and it’s first HOME game is Wednesday at 5:45 pm.
We also have several new WVUP education students beginning their observations with us.

Prek Registration is Monday, February 3 beginning at 8:00am across all Wood County Schools. It is helpful if you have the paperwork completed before you stand in line. Please stop in our main office today for a folder. Prek registration will come through the RIGHT main office door. An official WV LIVE BIRTH CERTIFICATE is required for enrollment.
Our Second Nine Weeks Awards Assembly is Monday, February 3, 2025 beginning at 8:30 am. If you plan to attend, please have a photo ID and sign-in at the LEFT MAIN OFFICE DOOR with Mrs. McDonnell and Mrs. Jenkins.
World's Finest candy bar sale papers will finally come home today with grade K-5 (Prek Monday). f you wish to pick up a box of candy bars this afternoon for the weekend you may complete the paper. Profits from the candy bar sales will be used to support school and classroom initiatives. If your child will participate in the sale you must complete the form and send it back in to the main office. If you do not wish for your child to participate, simply do not complete the form. Those students selling candy bars will get a prize for each box they sell. Our entire school will have a fun activity at the end of the sale.
Cold and Flu season is upon us. If your child has flu-like symptoms, fever vomit, and/or diarrhea, please do not send them to school to spread germs and sickness. Thank you.

Our Boys basketball team plays tonight at Emerson versus Lubeck beginning at 4:45pm.
We have a Partner In Education Signing tomorrow at Greenmont as we will now be business partners with First Settlement Physical Therapy. FSPT will joining our first PIE, United Bank.
Finally, we will have a candy bar fundraiser kickoff this Thursday as our school will be selling World's Finest candy bars for $1. All students will get information, but only those that send back a completed form will be selling the candy bars. We have decided to stick with selling the $1 candy bars to keep costs down. The candy bar fundraiser will be used to provide for some basic things around our school. This candy bar fundraiser is not a PTA fundraiser.

There is a PTA meeting today at 3:15 in our library. The boys basketball team plays tonight at 5:45 at Gihon versus Gihon. The social studies fair is tomorrow morning. Parents can help their child set up between 7:30-7:50 (please see Mrs. Shuman).

Reminder for Pre-K: Wood County Schools Pre-kindergarten (pre-k) registration for the 2025-2026 school year will commence on February 3, 2025. Children must be four years old by June 30, 2025 (or qualify for special education IEP services). Greenmont will have a PAJAMA DAY for students and staff on Friday, January 17, 2025. The reason for this PAJAMA DAY is because we are tired and worn out and need a day to relax a bit more while we are at school!
Please be sure to dress warm with a jacket on your way to and from school and bring slippers/sneakers to wear during the day. See you all tomorrow in your comfy pajamas!

Due to last week's school cancellation, the boys basketball season will be postponed starting by one week. We will have practices this week, but there will not be any games. We will send an updated game schedule later in the week for all students/staff. Thaks for your understanding.

Breakfast will be served which is waffles. Lunch times do not change. Today's hot lunch is calzones.

Correction: The January 13 edition of the *Parkersburg News & Sentinel* incorrectly stated that Wood County Schools would be adding an additional 30 minutes to the school day in relation to "equivalency time" for days missed due to inclement weather. In fact, Wood County Schools already incorporates 30 extra minutes into its regular school day, which can be used to account for missed instructional time. To be clear, Wood County Schools will not be adding 30 minutes to the end of any school day.
